Blogger Recognition Award!

Hello my lovelies! My first award. Many thanks to the support of Nicholas at www.blogtasticfood.com for popping my award cherry! It’s exciting and validating to be nominated. Somebody on the internet likes me! I love the way these awards help bloggers connect and learn more about each other. It also gives us a framework to help us give each other a boost. The internet can be a cold place and I’m so thankful for the support of the food-blogging community!

There are rules to these things. As there should be.

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post responding to the nomination.
  • Give a short story on how you started your blog.
  • Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Nominate 15 other bloggers.
  • Let the bloggers know that you have nominated them. And provide them with a link to the post you created.

The Winsome Baker started as a hobby. I have always baked and loved experimenting. I had vague pipe dreams about future blogging fame. My partner pushed me to take the leap and start blogging. It took me a while to suck up the courage to press publish. I practiced on a private blog for a little bit beforehand. After two years of hobby-blogging I reached a crunch-point in my job and chose to leave. I have been trying to build a different life focussed on my passions and interests and have been using this blog as my jumping off point.

My my first piece of advice for new bloggers echoes Nicholas’. Quality should trump quantity. Get into a rhythm and post on a schedule if you can. I started off posting once a week because it was a manageable amount for me while working. But I always posted at the same time each week. It lets readers know when they can expect to hear from you and learn that you can be trusted.

My second piece of advice is for bloggers and for people in general. It’s something I have struggled with a lot. Be honest and genuine about who you are and what you are interested in. It will make it easier to produce content by reducing anxiety of trying to please all the people. It will also make your content more engaging for readers who are interested in the same things as you. People can tell when you’re pretending. Rough edges are relatable and interesting.

And the nominees are!

Please take the time to check out these other blogs – all of them have so much to offer. Support your fellow blogger!

Look after each other.

xx

  1. Congratulations for your first award! And also for following you passions and leaving your job – that takes guts not many people have. I’m looking forward to exploring your passions through your blog! Will also be checking out your nominees. All the best!
